The company Dr Boy GmbH & Co. KG from Neustadt-Fernthal has set a clear signal for the future by commissioning a photovoltaic system at the beginning of July 2023. With this system, the family business can cover almost 100% of its electricity requirements (in favourable weather conditions) on a sustainable basis and thus take a big step towards climate protection. The main aim of the system is to utilise as much of the self-generated electricity as possible and only feed the surplus into the public grid. In parallel to the construction of the PV system, the lighting in the entire production area was also converted to very energy-saving LED technology. Internal processes such as the test runs of the machines built or the battery charging times of the industrial trucks were also changed so that the self-generated electricity is used optimally during the main solar phase.
Cooperation with experienced service providers and the local grid operator helped to overcome the challenges of installing the system. Firstly, the planned roof area was checked to see whether it was suitable for the planned system. Then the 1060 modules, with a total output of 430 kWp, were professionally installed in an east/west orientation optimised for the sun's path. Furthermore, before commissioning, the factory's own medium-voltage supply (transformer) had to be converted with new feed-in-capable converters in order to be able to feed into the public grid.
Investing in renewable energies not only saves money, but also actively contributes to environmental protection and, of course, to securing jobs in the long term.
It is important to make the world a little bit better together.
