BOY XS produces at the Plastteknik 23 in Malmo

At the Swedish plastics trade fair Plastteknik 23 (10thth + 11 May), the BOY representative AWI Maskin AB exhibits a part-producing BOY XS. On the two days of the event, snap hooks will be produced from a PP with 35 % glass fibre content.

With a footprint of just 0.77 m², the BOY XS injection moulding machine has a clamping force of 100 kN and was specially developed for micro and sprueless single-cavity injection moulding. Instead of piston plasticising, which is normally usual for this size of machine, BOY optionally uses three sizes of injection units with five different screw diameters from 8 - 18 mm. Especially for small moulded parts, the "first in first out"- principle of the screw plasticising units guarantees shortest dwell times of the plastic in the heated injection unit - a major advantage for a gentle processing of temperature-sensitive materials.

The BOY XS presented at Plastteknik 23 has a special version of the clamping platen system for the accommodation of micro moulds from many well-known standard mould manufacturers. This design offers the advantage of an injection unit that can be adjusted in height by up to 25 mm, thus allowing a decentralised gating. The diagonal arrangement of the two tie bars saves space. Nevertheless, the plasticising unit, the mould area and the ejector remain easily accessible for the user.

Christian Storz, Export Manager with BOY, as well as the long-standing representative AWI Maskin, expect a high visitor frequency with promising discussions at the BOY booth.
