Neustadt-Fernthal, August 2015

Smartly cross-linked BOYs at Fakuma 2015

Due to the growing crosslinking of machines and systems, BOY will demonstrate this at Fakuma 2015. In the BOY booth (hall A7 / booth 7101), all the BOY machines will be cross-linked. The communications linking them will be done via the integrated Ethernet interface that is available on all BOY injection moulding machines.

BOY welcome aboard and will partner with ProSeS BDE GmbH during Fakuma 2015. BDE systems, which can be customized, enable perfect production planning and control, quality control, and operational cost accounting. Depending on the requirement of the operator, the individual segments of the data entry can be individually configured and extended any time. The software of the BDE system accesses the internal BOY Procan ALPHA machine control. Machine settings, collected operating parameters as well as production data recorded by the machine control such as injection volume, temperatures, pressures, etc. can be recorded and reused. From every IT workstation with online access, the required data can be interrogated using the IP address of the BOY injection moulding machines and can be used for the downstream BDE functions.

Energy requirement will be determined online

Another “smart solution” will be the new online energy calculator. It will be introduced live for the first by BOY at Fakuma. The calculator will work without additional programs, without any connection to portals of the machine manufacturer and without expensive service contracts. From every mobile terminal with online access, the operator will receive with only a few input values via the BOY App ( the calculated cycle time, the material throughput per hour and the required energy demand of the BOY injection moulding machine.

Cross-linked into the future

Due to Industry 4.0, injection moulding machines and peripheral devices cooperate more and more closely. This will become especially apparent by the BOY Fakuma exhibits. On a BOY 60 E, injection moulded toothbrush bodies will be removed by a KUKA six-axis robot IIWA. In doing so, the usual safety housing will not be required. With the integrated torque sensor technology, the human-robot collaboration will be assured. As soon as the robot arm feels an obstacle, the movement of the robot will be stopped. Therefore, the IIWA robot is more a production assistant than a pure machine with firm program sequences.

On a BOY 100 E, the integrated linear handling device BOY SL 30 will remove the moulded 2C parts and will place them on a conveyor belt. The operation of the handling will be possible via the display of the injection moulding machine. In addition, the transfer system on the BOY 35 E VH insert moulding machine equipped with 2C technology and mould concept hot/cold will communicate closely with the Procan ALPHA ® 2 machine control.

Online surprise

BOY has another “online iron“ in the fire that will be presented for the first time at Fakuma 2015. “What it is exactly, we don´t want to reveal at the moment“, says Alfred Schiffer, BOY Managing Partner and continues, “Besides the energy calculator of the BOY App, another new online tool will make working life for many plastic processors easier and more comfortable. Come to our booth in hall A7 and we will show you with pleasure what it is all about”.
